Vaginal infections can negatively impact the quality of life of patients. However, during pregnancy, the negative impact is even bigger, as the infection can also have an impact on the unborn child or influence the course of the pregnancy leading to miscarriage or preterm birth. Treatment options are more limited and need to be evaluated more carefully. Prof. Daniel Surbek from the Inselspital Bern will share his insights on treatment challenges of vaginal infections during pregnancy, including the prevalence, symptoms as well as solutions and treatments and the role of screening for vaginal infections in low-risk pregnant women.
